Our Story
NIKODEM'S VERSION
I remember first seeing Alyssa in the first year of University in my uni classes. I immediately had a crush on her even though we haven’t even spoken yet. We were in some group projects together and that got us to talk more, and we ended up being good friends. I was always hoping something would come of it but was never brave enough to make the first move 😂
We used to text a lot, but in her eyes I was just a good friend she can rant to - for the first three years of our time at university. In the fourth and final year, I finally decided to move out and live in uni halls. One of our mutual friends has managed to arrange 9 people to live in the same flat, and one of them ended up being Alyssa (it was meant to be).
I thought this would be the perfect time to make my move since we will be seeing each other more often. We got along really well and spent a lot of time together. I knew she was the person for me, so on the 24th October 2017 I decided it was the day to make the ultimate move. I bought her a ring and flowers, and placed it in her room. She seemed pretty impressed with it (she loved it really), and thought it would be a good idea to ask her to be my girlfriend. Too bad I forgot to actually ask the question, so a month later she decided to bring up the fact I never actually officially asked - that’s why we now celebrate our anniversary on the 21st November.
It’s been the best 6 and a half years, and I’m so excited for our wedding. I can’t believe I’m getting to marry the love of my life!
ALYSSA'S VERSION
We met during our first year of uni and instantly clicked as friends, he was a nice guy - a little bit quiet/shy but so easy to talk to so I chatted away (I didn't think we'd be anything more than friends and I was just friendly ok 😂)
Over time we seemed to always be in the same classes so we picked to be in the same group projects when we can. He kind of did work so I thought that was better than working with strangers lol 🤓.
I guess over first and second year of uni we became good friends then fast forward to third year/start of placement year, we had a random phone call and found out that we would be both doing a placement instead of him going straight to final year. Since then, I used him as a human diary, updating him daily about my day and we were whatsapping non-stop, up late at night to talk non-sense. It was all still super friendly at this point and I was thinking "wow besties, he's SO nice, thanks for putting up with me" 😅.
We never met up face to face during placement year yet we were so close and he knew so much about me/my life. Then, in final year, we ended up living in the same flat with 9 people (shoutout to the flatmates ✌️). It was so weird to see him when I first moved in because I wasn't sure how we'd interact??? Everything was over text and now I'm shy lol.
Anyway, someone got super drunk on a student night (Niko), literally 10 mins of being there, and our flatmates told me he's throwing up in the toilets. Obviously I came to the rescue and helped him out 😇. Fast forward a couple of months later and he surprised me with flowers and a ring. That was very cute/ unexpected/ romantic and I felt very lucky to know him let alone be good friends with him. He didn't actually ask me out that night so we were more than friends?
Clearly, we became bf/gf and he's been by my side through all the stress and fun of uni. We graduated and navigated work life and all this time he continues to be my rock.
We've had so many experiences over the years, he's allowed me to be a part of his family & culture and we've explored new places together. No one understands me like he does and 5 years later we went to the Amalfi Coast where he popped the question 💍. Now, I'm so excited to be planning our wedding and looking forward to married life with Niko 🧡.
